Essential Habits
Pastor’s Study
- Led by pastor Dennis Livingston
- Thursday Evenings 6:00-7:15 p.m.
- Title:
“Left Behind…Those Other Forgotten Books”. The growth of
the early church was not simple and without contention.
Many groups and factions claimed to be followers of
Jesus, and most of them had at least one authoritative book to support
their views and practices.
Surprisingly, most of those books claimed to be written by one
of the twelve apostles.
Over a few hundred years, with much discussion, debate,
contention, and votes, (or the lack thereof) the number of books was whittled down to
the 27 books of our Christian Bible.
Many books were “left behind.”
I want to look at that early canonization process and a
few of those “left behind” books.
Who knows, learning about those books might give insight
to the books in the canon.
